After a while, I got down to the bare casting. The chain leads to a large counterweight hanging
inside the central column, and was still flexible even after more than a decade out in the weather.
The text on the right-hand arm reads "Rockford Drilling Machine Co. Rockford Ill. U.S.A."
The text on the lower left arm reads "Pat'd Oct. 15 1900". The cross arm at the top says "20 Drill"
